No names, your wedding was wonderful!

I documented a beautiful wedding at the Imperial Hotel in Delhi this weekend, but the couple, for their own good reasons, preferred not to share the actual wedding pictures on the net, and I respect their request. This can give me the opportunity to focus on the details rather then the bigger picture, and a wedding, like many other things in life, is always in the details.

There are many similarities between the various traditions of Indian weddings, and naturally many differences as well. The fire, the bangles and hand decoration of the bride, and the tying of the knot between the bride’s dupatta and the groom’s scarf to symbolize the unbroken connection between the newly wedded couple, are some of the things that we can find in most of the Indian weddings.

Here are some detail shots that I like from this weekend wedding at the Imperial. Believe me, there are many other beautiful images that i would have loved to show, but this will have to do for now.

As the father of the bride, it is only these photos out of the hundreds taken, which make me even begin to understand what marriage means to my daughter. To be truthful, I did not really subscribe to all this ceremony, having avoided most of it my time around – but this gives me a reason to believe. In so many things.

Thank you, Sephi, these photos are sheer poetry.
