A Palace wedding in Jaipur – Part 2/2

Some time back I posted the first part of this amazing palace wedding in Jaipur and without getting into the reason, it’s final part is way overdue. This once-in-a-lifetime wedding spectacle was from the first moment too big an experience to be covered in one post. In the first part I showcased the morning mehendi event at the Jai Mahal Palace and the evening Sangeet party. This part is all about the actual wedding at Jaipur’s City Palace, the former seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The greatest part of the palace complex located in the heart of Jaipur city and incorporates an impressive and vast array of courtyards, gardens and buildings, is still the royal residence. I’ve been to Jaipur many times before but following the groom’s baraat procession, red carpet, elephants, horses, flag bearers, lights and music band was the closest I ever felt to actually experiencing the grandeur of this incredible place. The wedding took place at one of the large palace courtyards and was followed by a grand dinner that lasted into the night until the very emotional vidai ceremony and the departure of the newly wed couple.

I started the afternoon with the bride at her getting-ready room while my friend and fellow photographer Andrew Adams who joined me for this wedding had a chance to go to the palace before everyone else and get some incredible shots of the decor and ambiance. I particularly envy that great shot of the two elephants in front of the palace gate but I’m glad that at least one of us could get it. I think that between the two of us we pretty much managed to give a good coverage of the events.

The next day was a lot more relaxed and included a family lunch and some fun couple’s games. The evening reception at Castle Kanota at the outskirts of Jaipur was again a chance for everyone to show their dancing skills. Definitely a wedding to remember.

Breathtaking… the bride, her dress, her jewelery, her head piece (love to know where she got that!! wonder if it’s Jenny Lee too?). The outdoor ceremony is perfect. The venue is just as perfect. One of the classiest weddings I’ve seen!

Phew! Its been like an hour and I am still continuing scrolling up and down on all your wedding pictures! I must say you have mastered photography and being associated with WPA itself says all :-) I am a wedding photographer myself and I would like to request you to tell me what lens were used in this particular album, especially the night pictures have been really great. What Lens and Light Source were used to capture this amazing wedding?

Thank you Yogendra. I’m afraid being a part of this association or the other means very little about one’s work. However, I’m glad you like it.
I work with mainly available light and open lenses. see here http://www.fotowala.in/my-camera-bag/
